When a trust is part of your application

When completing Finalise Your Account, a step appears when a trust is part of your application: either a trust owns the property you told us about, your business is a trading trust, or a trust holds 25% or more of your business.

You get one step for each trust, named after that trust. It asks for three things: the trust name, the trustees, and the trust deed.

The Trust deed

If there is a Trust associated with your application we need to hold a copy of the deed, and any amendments, to verify the names of Trustees.

You cannot find the deed

Contact your lawyer or accountant who set the trust up. 

Your deed is on paper

You need to scan it to PDF. Most phone scanning apps and office printers will do this. A photo saved as a JPG will not be accepted.

The deed will not upload

• PDF only. Word files, photos and screenshots are refused.
• 5MB or smaller. Scanning in black and white instead of colour usually gets a long deed under the limit.

Your trust has been amended

Upload the amendments in the Amendments box below the deed. It is optional if there are none. Add more lets you upload several. These are PDF only as well.

Trustees

List every trustee involved in managing the trust. For each: legal first and last name, email address and mobile number.

Cannot add a fourth trustee

This step takes up to three trustees. If your trust has more, add three here and email info@fundtap.co with the rest. 

Continue is grey but every field is filled in

Check each trustee individually. One invalid email address or a landline instead of a mobile is enough to hold the button. Look for a red message under the fields on each trustee card.

One of your trustees is a lawyer, accountant or trustee company

Mark them as a professional trustee. You are then asked how to handle them:

• Yes, contact them on my behalf — we get in touch with them directly.
• I'll contact them myself, just send me what they need — we send you the list and you pass it on.

For a trustee company we also ask for the company name and the name, email and mobile of one of its directors.

A trustee has died or resigned

List the current trustees only, and upload the deed of appointment or retirement with your amendments. If you are unsure, contact us.
