Brickwork with a contractor crew
The business lays brick across Waikato and Bay of Plenty. The owner brings in contractors to get the work done, and they need paying whether the client has paid or not.
The brickwork gets invoiced when it’s done. The money for it comes when the client pays, which can be a long way behind the work.
Christmas with the money still out
By December 2025 there was a good amount owed to the business for work already finished, and Christmas was coming.
At sign-up in December 2025, the owner told the FundTap team they wanted something in place over Christmas so the contractors could be paid.
The money was coming. It just wasn’t going to land before the contractors’ invoices did.
“...What do you guys do if someone’s taking too long to pay?”
From a call with the FundTap team, December 2025
Picking the invoice to fund
They signed up in December 2025 and connected Xero. That month they funded their first invoice, for brickwork already finished.
The owner picks the invoice, sees the fee first, and the client pays the business on their own date, as before.
Contractors paid through the break
The contractors were paid over Christmas, and the clients paid the business in their own time.
The work didn’t slow down in the new year. January 2026 was their busiest month, with five invoices funded. Their funding limit was raised that month and again in February 2026, then a third time in July 2026.
Paying the contractors on time keeps them on side for the next job, whoever is still to pay for the last one.
When a client is slow to pay
They’ve funded 24 invoices since December 2025, and the owner decides which ones. When a client is quick, the invoice runs to its date and FundTap doesn’t come into it.
In September 2026 they funded three more, for brickwork already laid.
In a public review, the owner called it easy to use and fairly priced, and said they’d recommend it.
