Chargers for homes and businesses
The business is an electrical contractor in regional Victoria that supplies and installs EV chargers. Some go into homes, some into business premises.
Each job is supply and install. The charger is sourced, fitted and wired up, and the invoice goes out once it’s working.
It’s a young business, run by its owner. The customer pays after the invoice lands, and until then the business has paid for the charger and the work itself.
The hardware comes first
A charger install isn’t like a day of general electrical work. The unit is bought in before it goes on the wall. A good part of the job’s cost is paid out before anyone has been invoiced.
When they signed up, the owner told the FundTap team the business was still young, supplying and installing chargers at homes and businesses. For a business that size, a few installs waiting on payment at once can be enough to hold up the next one.
Funding the finished installs
Their broker introduced them to FundTap. They signed up in May 2025 and connected Xero, and in June 2025 they funded their first invoice, a finished install waiting on its customer.
The owner picks the install invoice to fund and sees the fee before going ahead. The customer still pays the business directly, on the terms they agreed.
On to the next job
With the finished install funded, the money for the next charger isn’t waiting on the last customer. The owner can order the unit, book the install and get on with it.
The work picked up through the year. Their funding limit was raised in September 2025, and December 2025 was their busiest month, with five invoices funded. In May 2026 the limit went up again.
Quiet between installs
They’ve funded 18 invoices since June 2025: 11 in 2025 and seven in 2026 to September, the latest in July 2026. When there’s no install waiting on a customer, the account goes unused, and unused costs nothing.
