Guards on sites and at events
The business is new, set up to put guards where its customers need them.
That means building sites, company premises and private events like a big birthday.
When they signed up, the owner explained to the FundTap team that a one-off event is invoiced for payment within a fortnight, while company work is generally paid on the 20th of the month. They work around some customers’ own payment terms too.
Wages due, jobs waiting on payment
A new business starts with guards on the roster before any customer has paid. The team was out on jobs, those jobs were the ones waiting for the money to come in, and the wages fell due in the middle of it.
The owner told the FundTap team they wanted something small, for the odd occasion when wages fell due before a job had paid.
That’s the gap a new guarding company runs into. The work is there, the people are paid for it as they go, and the customer pays on the 20th.
“...we’ve got wages due, and of course the jobs they’re working on are the jobs that are waiting for money to come in. Because we’ve just started the business, I just need a little bit of cashflow.”

Funding the jobs under way
They signed up in January 2026 and connected Xero, so the invoices were there to pick from. They chose three and saw the fee on each before going ahead.
The shape of it suited a business that didn’t expect to need it often: no ongoing fees, and a fee only on the invoices they fund. Their customers pay the business on their usual terms.
Wages paid, business off the ground
The three invoices were funded in January 2026, and the wages were paid. The guards carried on with their jobs, and the customers’ payments arrived on their own terms, as agreed.
That was the point of setting it up: a way to get a new business off the ground without carrying every pay run until the customers paid.
They haven’t put another invoice through since, and with no ongoing fees that has cost them nothing. It’s set up for the next time wages land before a job pays.
“It’s good to have it, you know, set up... It sort of, I think, is to get us up off the ground, really.”
