Logs out first, money on the 20th
The business is a logging contractor in the top of the South Island. It harvests forestry blocks with a crew on the hill, heavy machinery and a lot of diesel.
Like much of the primary sector, it gets paid on the 20th. The logs go out, the invoice goes in, and the money lands when the 20th comes round.
The costs don’t wait for that date. The crew is paid for the weeks they’ve worked, and the machines burn fuel whether the 20th has arrived or not.
Wages due before the harvest money
A logging crew is the business. They’re paid for the work as they do it, not when the invoice is settled, and a payday can’t be moved.
At sign-up in February 2024, the owner told the FundTap team the gap was a one-off: paid on the 20th, with wages due before it.
It’s the gap every primary-sector business knows. The work is done and the invoice is out, but the crew’s payday falls before the one date the money arrives.
Funding the invoice holding up payday
Their broker introduced them to FundTap. They signed up in February 2024, connected Xero, and funded their first invoice that month, with the crew’s pay due before the 20th.
They see the fee before they commit, and their customer still pays the business on the 20th, as it always has.
The crew paid, the harvest kept moving
The crew was paid on time and the harvest carried on. The one-off gap wasn’t the last: logging runs on big invoices and paydays that won’t shift.
As the invoices got bigger, so did the room they needed. Their funding limit has been raised seven times since June 2024, twice in June 2026 alone. In an email to the FundTap team in July 2026, the owner asked for a larger funding limit.
Their call, invoice by invoice
They funded 12 invoices in 2024, 12 in 2025 and five in 2026 to September, 29 in all over more than two years. The business decides which invoices to fund.
In the months with nothing funded, there’s nothing to pay.
In a public review, the business described the whole experience as a pleasure and said it would gladly use FundTap again.

The harvest is invoiced and the money lands on the 20th, but the crew’s pay won’t wait that long. Fund the invoice that’s holding up payday and keep the crew on the hill.
