The outsourced IT department
The business runs IT for companies that would rather not run their own. It supports and manages the lot, under contracts that run for a year or more.
Each contract is invoiced as a fixed amount, so the business knows what’s coming in and when. Products the clients buy through it sit outside the contract and are billed on their own.
A big new client, and the wage bill
The cost of a managed IT contract is mostly people. The team is on the payroll from the first day of a contract, and the wage bill lands whether or not the client has paid the first invoice.
When they signed up in February 2024, the owner told the FundTap team they had just taken on a big new client on a month’s terms, and what they needed to cover was the wage bill.
A month’s terms on a big contract means a month of wages paid before the money comes in.
Funding the invoices
They signed up in February 2024 and funded their first invoice that month. In March 2024 they funded 16, their busiest month.
The owner sees the fee on each invoice before committing. The clients pay the business on their usual terms, the new one included.
The team paid on time
With invoices funded, the wages go out on time and the client’s terms run their course without the business feeling them. A big client on a month’s terms is just a big client.
They funded 42 invoices in 2024 and 20 in 2025, 62 in all.
On standby since the last invoice
Nothing has been funded since September 2025, and the account has cost nothing while it waits. The contract invoices keep going out as before, and the next time a new client’s terms run past payday, the owner can fund that invoice and nothing else.
