Hosting stays, billing plan managers
The business provides short-term accommodation for NDIS participants in regional New South Wales. A participant books a stay, support is arranged around it, and the business covers everything the stay needs.
The participant doesn’t pay for it. The stay is billed to their plan manager, who checks the claim and pays it from the participant’s NDIS plan.
It’s a young business, run by its owner. Until the plan manager pays, the money behind each stay is the owner’s.
Every cost comes first
A stay can’t be run on promises. The accommodation, the support and everything else are paid for before and during the stay, long before the claim goes in.
When they signed up in November 2023, the owner told the FundTap team they paid all of a stay’s costs upfront and then invoiced the plan manager, which could take more than a week to pay.
Some of those invoices are big, and the bigger the stay, the more of the owner’s money is sitting with a plan manager. The owner explained they wanted the money from each stay in sooner than the plan managers could pay it.
Funding the stay invoices
They signed up in November 2023, connected their accounting software and funded their first invoices that month, six of them.
The owner picks the stay invoices to fund and sees the fee before committing. The plan managers still pay the business in their own time, as they would have anyway.
The next stay without the wait
With the invoice for one stay funded, the money for the next stay didn’t have to wait on a plan manager. The accommodation and the support could be paid for as the bookings came, not as the claims cleared.
2024 was the biggest year, with 28 invoices funded. They have funded 43 invoices in all.
Ready for the next booking
Nothing has been funded since March 2025, and nothing has been charged since. When a big stay is booked and the plan manager’s claim is going to take its time, the funding is there for that invoice.
In a public review, the owner described the team as quick to answer questions and said getting at money that would otherwise be held up had been easy.
