A young crew in Perth
The business puts up scaffolding on construction sites around Perth. It’s a young business, built around a main customer that gave it most of its work early on.
That customer pays once a month. Another customer came on soon after, and that one pays fortnightly, which suits a wages bill a lot better.
Signing up in November 2024, the owner explained to the FundTap team that the main customer paid once a month and wages couldn’t wait.
Wages before the month’s payment
Scaffolding is labour. The crew puts the scaffold up, and takes it down again when the site is finished with it. The scaffolders are paid through all of that, while the invoice waits for the customer’s next payment run.
For a young business with most of its work coming from the customer who pays slowest, that wait landed squarely on the wages. The work was there. The money for it was a month behind.
Funding the scaffold invoices
They signed up in November 2024 and funded three invoices that month, with wages the reason.
The business chooses the invoice and sees the fee before it commits. The customer’s payment run doesn’t change: they pay the business, once a month, as before.
The crew paid on payday
With the invoice funded, the scaffolders were paid on time, without the business waiting on its main customer’s payment run first.
For a young crew, that’s what stops a once-a-month payment run from setting the pace for everything else. They funded five more invoices through to March 2025, eight in all.
Not needed lately
Nothing has been funded since March 2025. The business hasn’t needed it, and an account that isn’t used doesn’t cost anything.
