Small jobs, booked in ahead
The business does waterproofing and joint sealing around Brisbane. The jobs are small and there are plenty of them, booked in ahead so the weeks fill up.
Every job starts with a trip to the supplier. The materials are bought before the work starts, and that money comes out of the business.
Its customers pay on terms. Some settle weekly, others in the middle of the month. Either way, the job is done and the materials paid for before the money arrives.
A young business with a full book
When they signed up in September 2023, the business was young and busy. Jobs were booked in to the end of the following month, each needing its own materials first.
At sign-up, the owner told the FundTap team the hard part was still having to buy materials while they waited on the last invoices to be paid.
With that many jobs lined up, the materials bill ran ahead of the payments. It’s a good problem, the kind a full book brings, but it’s still a gap.
Set up early, used when it counted
They signed up in September 2023 and connected QuickBooks. Then the work carried itself for a while. For two years they didn’t need to fund anything, and there was no fee in that time. A fee only comes with an invoice they choose to fund.
In September 2025 they funded one invoice, with the fee shown first. The customer paid the business on its normal terms, straight to them.
Materials covered, next job started
That’s the point of it for a business built on small jobs. The invoice from a finished job pays for the materials on the next one, instead of waiting for mid-month.
In October 2025 they funded two more, their busiest month. Three invoices over that stretch, money that kept the next jobs on the book supplied.
A quiet stretch since
Nothing has been funded in 2026. The jobs are paying on their terms and that quiet hasn’t cost them anything. When a run of booked jobs next outruns the payments, the next invoice can go through the same way.
The timeline
- September 2023 Signed up as a young business, with a full book of small jobs and materials to buy for each one.
- September 2025 Funded their first invoice, two years after signing up, with no fee in between.
- October 2025 Funded two more invoices, their busiest month so far.
In numbers
- 3 invoices funded since September 2025, all from finished jobs
- 2 years between signing up and the first invoice funded, with nothing to pay in between
- 2 invoices funded in October 2025, the busiest month
